Sokoto University

The newly established Sokoto State University will commence lectures next week, Daily Trust gathered.
Registrar of the institution, Hajiya Amina Garba said registration of students has commenced.
Addressing newsmen, Mrs. Garba said the university is starting with three faculties and 23 courses, which are yet to be accredited by the National University Commission.
The institution will be commencing activities with the faculties of Science, Arts and Social Sciences as well as Engineering.
She said students with deficiency in English Language and those who do not have up to five credits were granted concession, but with a warning that they should remedy the situation before the completion of their programmes.
Also speaking, Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Nuhu Yakubu said they have a staff strength of 193, including foreigners.
He said the academic staff comprise of competent and prominent professors, senior lecturers and junior lecturers.
