Forbes releases World's Most Powerful list, puts Dangote removes Jonathan, Putin ahead of Obama

Forbes releases World's Most Powerful list, puts Putin ahead of Obama
Forbes just released its World's Most Powerful People list and put Russian president Vladamir Putin ahead of US president Barack Obama. That's wack! They also said Dangote is more powerful than President Goodluck Jonathan. Dangote was placed 64th most powerful person in the world, Jonathan didn't make the list. See the rest after the cut...

Does it mean that private sector has more recognition than public, or is it that Jonathan isn't just doing the right thing

Tell me about your family

Am from a family of five am the fourth, of four boys I also have an elder sister, mum is late and dad lives in Abuja

What is the engineering like?

Hmmm, it’s been tough and great at the same time, it’s basically about structures, and I mean building or houses, so aside the engineering part you need to be a great thinker to produce good structures

So what takes a building engineering student into studio engineering?

Hmmm, ok first of all, I was way into music before I got into school, so it was music first, I was spending so much time at the studio and so I decided to learn studio recording engineering, building engineering came later. I was rapping before I went into studio engineering, so am a rapper and a studio engineer.

So, why music after all the plenty engineering that u have attached to you?

I love music, I guess it runs in d family, dad was guitarist back in d days; he still plays once in a while

Am sure he sang his way into your mother’s heart…?

Lol, well he never told me how they met so I can't really say

Why then dint u follow his footsteps, why the divergence to rap?

Ok, now that’s a good question, let’s say I started up with poetry, though I loved cool calm music then, but I found myself doing poetry and from then the rap just came, I can't really explain how it happened but I sing a little just a little, but I can only pass for a rapper

What type of song do u rap to?

Ok, I rap from hip hop to soul, to afro hip hop! World, African dance hall, I pretty much rap on everything, But am a gospel rapper

How has that been?

Well mix feelings you know how it is being a gospel rapper, you need to have the flow and the word of GOD, but it’s been great, tough and beautiful

How do you see the gospel, music compared to circular in relation to audience?

Hmmm, well for me, I think right now people are really listening to gospel music, because gospel artist are coming out now with really good stuffs that can match the circular industry plus there is Jesus in it

There is Jesus in it!

Why do most people prefer circular songs to most Gospel Songs?

Well I don’t think they do, maybe because they have not laid their hands on really awesome gospel songs that would blow their minds, like mine, (chuckles)

Yeah like yours

How many songs are credited to your name?

Well, I have recorded a lot of songs that are not yet out, but for now I can't call a figure,

Yes,bonchi and the classified freestyle are out, there is a song general for Christ I did some time back but didn't really promote it so, I will b promoting it too, very soon D bonchi has a video that is ready and would be out soon

Wow! You have gone far!

What challenges do u face?

I don't call it challenges but bread, but so far I think its getting my songs across is a little issue especially, when you are an upcoming artist and people don’t really know you,

Bread?

Yes it makes it easier to comprehend and deal with

What was your first experience in the studio?

Well it was not as bad as I thought it would be, it was almost ok for a first timer, I think back then I featured in a friends song But I never got to record my own first song I wrote

Why?

Lol, the song was a disaster and the message was not it at all

Where do u see yourself in the next 5yrs?

Winning the Grammy awards and my song been on the lips of people all over the world, having my own gospel rap school and so on

What do u make of the ongoing strike?

Well I think the strike is not nice, because it distract the students and slows down the time of them graduating, it’s sad, government should do something about it

Who is your role model?

My number one role model is Pastor Chris, the president of Christ Embassy, a.k.a, believers Love World; he is a great man of GOD

What is your favorite color?

Well, I love sky blue,

Which song should we be expecting soon?

Well bonchi and classifield freestyle are out for now, am working on other songs, I will kip you all posted

How can your Fans reach you?

You can reach me through my mobile number, 07034729290 or my pin 25efe01e,

Hand of God

jeremy-anderson-300x225
Jeremy Anderson, 22, from Oklahoma City is behind bars after setting fire to his kitchen when he tried to “cook the Bible,” and during his arrest, he told police that he was a Satanist.
Police were called to the home of Anderson on Wednesday when a neighbor called to report an incident of a “person going ballistic.”
Anderson threw objects at the police when they arrived and tried to enter his house. He had also kicked off the hinges to his front door and police noticed that he had blood stains covering his hands and face, according to police reports.
When an officer tried to taze Anderson, he told them that he wouldn’t be affected by it and when he was tazed again, he removed the probes in an act of defiance. According to local television station, KOCO-TV, Anderson continued to act like a madman and all attempts to talk him down failed.
Anderson then told backup police officers who arrived on the scene that he would fist fight them and they should put down their guns. After smelling smoke coming from the apartment, police then obtained a key to Anderson’s back door from the local housing authority and they were able to enter his house.
Upon entering the home of Anderson, officials discovered that the walls and floor were covered in blood, bleach and some other “substances.” A fire was also discovered in the kitchen and broken glass and furniture littered the apartment.
After being tasered several more times, Anderson was finally dragged out of the burning building by police who were dressed in riot gear.
Anderson also reportedly told police that he was a Satanist and he had started the fire because he wanted to “cook the Bible.” He also told them that he was “possessed by a homosεxual demon” who had performed sεxual acts upon him, according to KFOR-TV.
Reportedly, Anderson also stated to police that that he was surprised that he allowed the demon to touch him because he wasn’t homosεxual.
Anderson was taken to Oklahoma County Jail and held on charges of arson after being taken to hospital for checkup.

One person owning 62 houses! in Nigeria

Chairman, Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Offences Commission, Mr. Ekpo Nta
There are strong indications that the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has launched a manhunt for corrupt senior civil servants who defraud the country.
Already, the commission has seized over 94 houses and choice property including assorted state-of-the-art vehicles concealed in different states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Out of this figure, one person alone has 62 houses.
Sources in ICPC informed SUNDAY PUNCH that the seizures were pursuant to Section 45(4) (a)-(b) of the Corrupt Practices and Other-Related Offences Act 2000.
A memo endorsed by the ICPC chairman, Mr. Ekpo Nta, and obtained by our correspondent showed that some of the owners of these choice properties are senior civil servants at the levels of deputy directors, directors and permanent secretaries.
For instance, the commission said it seized 15 properties belonging to a senior employee of Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps in Abuja.
Also, all the 15 houses are located in an Estate occupied by staff of NSCDC in Abuja and Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
Eight choice properties within Abuja and Nasarawa state belonging to another employee of NSCDC were confiscated in similar circumstances.
While most of the houses were seized from the staff of NSCDC, other choice houses were confiscated from a former employee of Skye Bank Plc in Wuse, Abuja.
The properties seized from the ex-banker are located in several places in Gwagwalada area of Abuja, Osun and Niger states.
Another two choice houses in Sun City Estate, Abuja, one Toyota Camry Car, one Toyota Sienna Car, one Toyota Car and a Hyundai Tuscan Jeep were seized from a deputy director in the Federal Ministry of Trade and Investment, Abuja.
The ICPC chairman put the total value of the seized assets including buildings and vehicles at N806.3m, while cash recovered and remitted stands at N469.3m.
Others are beneficiaries (N47.4m) and cash in ICPC Recovery Account (N503.3m).
When contacted on whether further seizures would be made, the Resident Consultant of ICPC (Media and Events), Mr. Folu Olamiti, told SUNDAY PUNCH that investigations were carried out before the properties were confiscated.
He said, “All the seizures we have made were sequel to petitions written to us and the result of investigations that we carried out. As soon as we receive petitions about people living beyond their means, the ICPC will follow up immediately. It is stems from the petitions received and investigations that were conducted to ascertain the truth.
“We look at their income and if it is not commensurate with what they have, definitely, we will act according to law and seize such properties.”
The ICPC spokesperson also said the commission would sell all the properties after some years, adding that the seizures were premised on the need to make people see public office as a trust.
He said, “It is part of our preventive mechanism against corruption. We want to prevent people from stealing and let them know that public office is a trust which should not be abused. The ICPC wants to teach people to live within their means and avoid being greedy.
“We want to change the attitude of people towards public funds. Our preventive mechanism is working in Nigeria and that is why people are scared of desperation to own houses using public funds. The systems review into the parastatals and Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the Federal Government is to ensure that the processes are well laid out and that there is no short-cut to doing things.
“One person alone has 62 houses; we have advertised the houses that have been confiscated. Let them come and give us reason for having those houses. How can a single person own about 62 houses in Abuja? Their prosecution would be determined by our chairman.”

Revealed! why Jonathan Cant sack Odua and this Women!

Since inception, President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration has been accused of impunity, usually caused by decisions and actions of the President, including those of his ministers and close associates.
Most of the glaring cases of abuse of power including reckless spending of taxpayers’ money have been carried out by the women in Jonathan’s cabinet. These women have proven to be more powerful than the
number one citizen of Nigeria because despite public outcries that greet some of their decisions, they go scot-free.
Those who fall in this seemingly untouchable category are the First Lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan; the Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala; the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke; the Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, Ms. Arunma Oteh; and the Minister of Aviation, Ms. Stella Oduah.
These powerful women have some things in common. They are all from the South-East and South-South geopolitical zones. Four of them had their higher education in the United States and two of them are daughters of traditional rulers. Needless to say they occupy some of the most strategic and ‘lucrative’ positions in the Federal Government.
PATIENCE JONATHAN
In Nigeria’s history, Patience Jonathan is believed to be the most powerful First Lady in terms of the amount of influence she has over her husband and his cabinet. Mrs. Jonathan first gave a glimpse into the enormous power she wields in 2011 when she traversed the country, campaigning for her husband in a way that irked many Nigerians.
Several calls by individuals and groups to the President to restrain his wife yielded no result. Also, in June this year, in apparent violation of the electoral act, Mrs. Jonathan reportedly started campaigning for her husband ahead of the 2015 elections. Another show of impunity by the President’s wife is the way she cripples any town or city she visits with her long motorcade, including bulletproof limousines and scores of armed policemen.
She grounded Lagos in 2012 when she visited to say “thank you” to some women groups for their support in electing her husband. Despite the protest by several Nigerians, who felt that their right to move freely in their country was violated by the movement of an unelected individual, the President’s wife was never cautioned, at least not publicly. Instead, the Presidency rose to her defence, giving her the liberty to do more in other cities. Her visits and grounding of traffic in Port Harcourt and Warri were also greeted with wide condemnations.
To show how powerful she is, Mrs. Jonathan publicly admitted making attempts to dictate to the Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, a move that largely precipitated the ongoing political crisis in the state.
In Aso Rock, where she resides with her husband, the fear of Mrs. Jonathan is the beginning of wisdom as she leaves no one in doubt that she is in charge. There is always a retinue of favour seekers waiting to see her daily.
Mrs. Jonathan, a native of Bayelsa State, was born in Port Harcourt on October 25, 1957 and holds National Certificate of Education in Mathematics and Biology from the Rivers State College of Arts and Science, and a Bachelor of Education degree in biology and psychology from the University of Port Harcourt.
NGOZI OKONJO-IWEALA
Right from when the negotiation to bring her from the World Bank started, it was obvious that Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala was bound to wield so much power in Jonathan’s government.
With her position as the coordinating minister for the economy (a new position created for her) and Finance Minister, Okonjo-Iweala, who is currently 83rd on Forbes’ global list of powerful women, calls the shots as far as Nigeria’s economy is concerned. While doing that, she has called the bluff of many including state governors and the National Assembly without any consequence.
The state governors, who have complained about the shabby way the minister treat them, have called for her removal while the Academic Staff Union of Universities has called her a ‘dictator.’ But no matter the protest, Okonjo-Iweala remains a darling of the President.
The sacking of Mr. Shuaib Yushau as the Head, Media and Information Unit of the National Emergency Management Agency, after he wrote what was considered a critical article against Okonjo-Iweala, further showed that the minister was not to be messed with.
The article entitled ‘Still on Okonjo-Iweala over Controversial Appointments’, published on March 6, called on the minister “to ensure that appointments into important positions should be done in credible and transparent manner that can withstand public scrutiny.”
Similarly, Mr. Lawrence Ani, was reportedly suspended indefinitely from his job as Saturday Editor of Thisday Newspaper for publishing a story that cited data that indicated a drop in Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product under Okonjo-Iweala’s watch.
In 2011, against the opinion of the majority of Nigerians, Okonjo-Iweala and the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, insisted on the removal of fuel subsidy, and literally ordered it on the outset of 2012, resulting in the Occupy Nigeria protest.
Okonjo-Iweala, who also served as finance minister and foreign minister under President Olusegun Obansanjo and as a Managing Director at the World Bank, was born on June 13, 1954 to Professor Chukuka Okonjo, who is the Obi (traditional ruler) of Ogwashi-Uku.
She graduated from Harvard University in 1977, and earned her Ph.D. in regional economic development from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1981.
She is married to Ikemba Iweala from Abia State.
DIEZANI ALISON-MADUEKE
Virtually all sections of the Nigerian society have called for the resignation of the Petroleum Resources Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, all to no avail. Most of those who sought her removal had cited several allegations of corrupt practices under her watch as reasons for their demand.
After the revelation of massive fraud in the fuel subsidy administration to the tune of N1.7trn, many had thought that heads would roll, including that of Alison-Madueke, who supervised the rot. Some heads did roll, but not that of the queen of the Nigeria oil and gas industry.
Till date, the Presidency has not queried or probed Diezani over allegations against her and the indictment of departments under her by several panels, including those headed by Nuhu Ribadu, Farouk Lawan, and Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede as well as the Nigerian Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative.
Diezani has also not explained to Nigeria, whom she was appointed to serve, what role she played in the massive corruption that led to the loss of huge amounts of public fund. Apart from the demands for the Alison-Madueke’s resignation and prosecution by civil society groups, who led the Occupy Nigeria protest, the House of Representatives also demanded her removal as minister.
Despite this, the President did not suspend her, and gave no explanation for that. This shows how powerful she is.
Alison-Madueke is the first woman to hold the position of Minister of Petroleum Resources in Nigeria, and in October 2010 she became the first woman to head a country’s delegation at the annual OPEC conference. She was also the first female Minister of Transportation, and the first woman to be appointed to the board of Shell Petroleum Development Company Nigeria.  Alison-Madueke was born on December 6, 1960 in Port Harcourt.
She graduated from Howard University in 1992, with a Bachelor’s degree in architecture and returned to Nigeria to join Shell Petroleum Development Corporation.
About 10 years later, she earned an MBA from Cambridge University and was appointed as the first female executive director of Shell Nigeria.
In 1999, she got married to Admiral Alison Madueke (retd), one-time Chief of Naval Staff who was at different times military governor of Imo and Anambra states.
STELLA ODUAH
Not many are aware of the tremendous power of the Aviation Minister, Stella Oduah, in Jonathan’s government. For her role in Jonathan’s 2011 campaign, she was reportedly rewarded with a ministerial appointment to the aviation ministry, even though she had no prior training in the field of aviation.
Many believe that the President feels indebted to her for her role as the Director of Finance and Administration of the Jonathan/Sambo Campaign Organisation and in the establishment of Neighbour-to-Neighbour outfit, which reportedly spent billions of naira on adverts and media propaganda in favour of Jonathan, especially while the Occupy Nigeria protest lasted.
Considering this relationship with Jonathan, it should not be a surprise that Oduah’s response to critics after the Dana and Associated Airlines crashes reeked of arrogance.
The latest revelation that she forced the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority to buy her bulletproof vehicles has again elicited calls for her removal and prosecution but considering the way the President has treated public outcries against these powerful women, Oduah is likely to remain minister till the end of Jonathan’s administration. Princess Stella Oduah was born on January 5, 1962 to Igwe D.O. Oduah of Akili-Ozizor in Anambra State on January 5, 1962.
She got her Bachelor’s degree in accounting and MBA from American universities.
Oduah joined the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation in 1983 and in 1992, she established a petroleum products marketing company, Sea Petroleum & Gas Company Limited. She was married to the former Minister for Works, Chris Ogiemwonyi.
ARUNMA OTEH
Through her battles, the Director-General of the Securities Exchange Commission, Ms. Arunma Oteh, has sufficiently earned the name ‘Iron lady’ even beyond her official sphere of influence. When she clashed with the House of Representatives Committee on the Capital Market, it was the chairman of the committee, Mr. Herman Hembe, that got hurt.
The committee had accused Oteh of fraud and misappropriation of funds. She fired back, accusing Hembe of demanding bribe from SEC. The SEC board suspended Oteh in order to investigate the findings of the lawmakers, who probed the capital market and indicted her. She immediately petitioned the President and Okonjo-Iweala. After two months, the President returned Oteh to her position, following the auditor’s report that said her offence amounted only to ‘administrative lapses.’ The directors and staff of the commission, who had protested Oteh’s alleged high-handedness, were advised to calm down and obey their boss.
On the other hand, Hembe was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and also stepped down as chairman of the committee.
The crisis led to an intense battle between President Jonathan and the House of Representatives. The House demanded the sacking of Oteh but Jonathan refused.
The passage of the 2013 budget was delayed because of the fight. Eventually, the lawmakers insisted on zero budget for SEC to force the President’s hand, but he did not budge. Calls for her removal by civil society groups also fell on deaf ears. Oteh, who is an indigene of Abia State, is also a British citizen.
She graduated with first-class degree in computer sciences from the University of Nigeria in Nsukka and earned her MBA from Harvard Business School

Interview with fast Rising Music Star and Rap Artiste Bjay Beji Ishaku

Interview with fast Rising Music Star and Rap Artiste Bjay Beji Ishaku

Tell me your full names, where you school, your place of origin, age dept and level?

Beji Ishaku. University of Jos. Plateau State. 22. Law. 400(500) level

 Why the 400lvl/500lvl?

Cos we on strike. If not for the strike we should have been in 500level.

So, tell me why law?

Cos I hated math’s. But actually it’s because my favorite subjects back in sec school were Government & Literature. So felt Law was the right course to study. After my first year studying law I realized it was something I really wanted to do. .

So I guess you will practice law?

By God's grace, or any other thing he might want me to do

Okay! Tell me about your family?

My Dad, Mum & a younger brother. That's about my family.

Yeah, how did it feel growing up without a sister?

Lol. Exactly. I don't know how it feels. But having a brother was better & fun anyway.

How did you get into music, and grow so fast and popular?

LOL. Not that popular yet but it was because of my love for music. I really do love listening to music, so I decided why don’t I start writing my own. I started going to d studio & music kept getting good from there.

Did you always know you would sing or singing is jus to while away time?

My love for music, that's why I rap & I don't do it to while away time.

Tell us what your first song was and how many songs since then?

Ok my first song was kind of gospel. It was titled 'Give Me the Strength' had Mista Seth as the producer & was featured on it as well. Four songs since then & some unreleased.

What was your first experience like in the studio and all?

Ok my first time in the studio I dint know what to do or what to even tell the producer. But I had my lyrics in a book and I told him to get me a beat that will fit the song. So it was made & I paid. But looking back at that first song I could cry, because it was painful music. It sounded very terrible but it thought me a lesson to make me better. And still every time you go to the studio you get better with each experience.

That’s progress!

What is the financial commitment to produce a song?

It ranges because it depends on a lot of things like the producer you’re using, familiarity btw u two & what u want from the producer. So let's say from 2k-8k. But the amount gets more than this by far.

So minus rap what else does Bjay do?

Its just school & music mostly.

Tell us who you look up to in the music industry or those in case they are more than 1

Ok. For me Eminem is god. K-Dot. Big Sean & 2Face are who I look up too. I listen to Lana Del Rey too.

As a fast rising rap artiste what problems do rising stars have and what is a solution?

There are a lot of problems. Even the already full blown stars have problems. But one thing about the music thing is being persistent, consistent & get better every day; also your commitment to the music business should never be in doubt.

What will u advice anyone who wants to go into the industry and is undecided?

They should make-up their minds. Set a goal. Be persistent, consistent in trying to reach that goal.

As a handsome dude am sure the whole of your school and outside babes are after you! Tell me any girlfriend?

Lol. Might not be so but I have many good girlfriends but there is no 'girlfriend' yet. God will lead me to her soon. I'm hopeful.

What should readers be expecting from you? Is there any song to be released soon?

Yes. There is. Dropping' soon.

 'Such-A-Badman'

On a final note you can send a shout out to your fans and friends

NUT strike Paralyse Actvities in Abuja

NUT strike paralyses academic activities in Abuja

Academic activities in government-owned primary and secondary schools in Gwagwalada were on Thursday paralysed, following an indefinite strike embarked upon by the Nigeria Union of Teachers in the Federal Capital Territory.
The NUT embarked on the strike after the FCT Minister, Alhaji Bala Mohammed,  ordered that the salaries of some teachers be suspended.
The order was given due to the inability of the affected teachers to produce their original certificates during a screening exercise conducted by the FCT Education Board.
The News Agency of Nigeria reported that all the government-owned secondary and primary schools in the area  were locked up  and pupils were sent home by guards stationed at the entrance of the schools.
Efforts to speak with Mrs Sylvia Inyan, the principal, Government Day Secondary School in Gwagwalada proved abortive as she refused to make any comment.
However some of the teachers who were seen around the school said they came to do their private businesses.
Most of the students who spoke with NAN said that they were not aware of the cause of the strike.
Master Amed Danlami of the school said that he was asked to return home immediately on arrival at school in the morning without explanation.
“I arrived the school this morning and saw my fellow students outside the gate. I was told to go back home. Neither the guards nor the teachers we saw outside the gate explained anything to us,’’ he said.

JETHRO IBILEKE/Benin

Fomer national Chairman of ASUU, Prof. Festus Iyayi, has described the federal government as “shameless and has no honor,” over failure to honor its side of the agreement they both entered into in 2009.
Prof. Iyayi stated this Thursday during a protest staged in Benin by UNIBEN chapter of ASUU, to sensitize citizens of the State of the decay in the education sector.
He took a swipe at the chairman of the federal government negotiating team and Governor of Benue state, Mr. Gabriel Suswan whom he claimed has turned himself into contractor, saying, “Even Suswan had said he would personally build and supervise the hostels at an outrageous rate from the proceeds of the proposed N100 billion.”

Iyayi wondered why President Goodluck Jonathan would chair the commissioning and fund raising for a private tertiary institution when public universities have been on strike for four months, saying, “this government is shameless and has no honor.”
Also speaking, Chairman of University of Benin (UNIBEN), ASUU, Dr. Anthony Monye-Emina, described claims by the federal government that it has given N100 billion to ASUU towards the revamping the education sector as deceitful and misleading.
He described the government’s claim as “offensive propaganda.”
Monye-Emina explained that the federal government released only N30 billion for the payment of allowances of lecturers and other workers of universities.
“This so called allowance is not our priority, what is utmost concern to us is the funding of education; vis-à-vis, infrastructure, science laboratory, workshop and others,” Monye-Emina said, adding that the alleged N100 billion was only approved on paper.
“We are not making fresh demand. The 2009 agreement stated N1.6tr to cater for education and this ought to be provided at the rate of N400 billion within a period of 4 years.
“And government keep saying no money to fund education; yet they bailed out banks, aviation and even Nollywood,” he stated.
The university lecturers have been on strike since July 1 to press home their 2009 agreement with the federal government.

Ojukwu's Family Asks Bianca For Proof Of Marriage

Ojukwu's Family Asks Bianca For Proof Of Marriage

Some members of the Ojukwu family have asked the Nigerian Ambassador to Spain, Bianca Ojukwu, to show proof that she was legally married to the late Ikemba of Nnewi, Chukwuemeka Odimegwu-Ojukwu.

In a 19-paragraph statement of defence filed by Ojukwu Transport Limited and seven others before Justice Funmilayo Atilade of the Lagos High Court, the family equally demanded proof from Bianca that her two sons, Afamefuna and Nwachukwu are biological sons of Odimegwu- Ojukwu.

The other defendants are Prof. Joseph Ojukwu, Engr. Emmanuel Ojukwu, Lotanna Putalora Ojukwu, Dr Patrick Ojukwu, Arc. Edward Ojukwu, Lota Akajiora Ojukwu and Mrs. Massey Udegbe (doing business under Massey Udegbe & Company).

Bianca had in suit No: LD/1539/2012 filed on behalf of her two under-aged children, Afamefuna and Nwachukwu (claimants), wants the court to declare that her children are entitled to the possession and occupation of the property known as No. 29, Oyinkan Abayomi Street, Ikoyi Lagos, until the harmonisation of the management and administration of the assets of the first defendant (OTL).

At the resumed hearing of the suit yesterday, counsel to Bianca and her children, was not in court which necessitated Justice Atilade to adjourn the suit till December 10 for adoption of written addresses on a Motion on Notice seeking to restrain the defendants from the property in dispute.

Bianca’s children had through their lawyer; Chris Ezugwu, prayed the court to declare as illegal the threat of forceful ejection from 29, Oyinkan Abayomi Street, by the defendants.

In addition, they urged the court to declare that they are entitled to possess the following property, namely: No 13, Hawksworth Road, Ikoyi (now known as No. 13 Ojora Road); No 32A, Commercial Avenue, Yaba, Lagos; No 30, Gerard Road, Ikoyi, Lagos; No. 30, McPherson Avenue, Ikoyi.

Bianca’s children said throughout the period their father was struggling to retrieve the properties from the government, the second to the seventh defendants “never played any role in the struggle nor contributed financially or otherwise to the realisation of the struggle.”

Besides, the claimant is asking for an order of court restraining the defendants, their agents or privies from interfering with the claimants’possesion and control of the properties.

But, in their statement of defence, the 1st to the 7th defendants through their lawyer, George Uwechue, SAN, averred that the subscribers of the memorandum of association of Ojukwu Transport Limited (1st defendant) at incorporation in 1952 were L. P. Ojukwu and Betram Chukwuemeka Obi, adding that the late Chukwuemeka Odimegwu-Ojukwu and one Prof. Joseph Ojukwu (2nd defendant) were later appointed as directors in 1953.

They stated that late Chukwuemeka Odimegwu- Ojukwu thereafter ceased to be a director of the company prior to the Nigerian civil war and was reappointed as a director on December 16, 2005 while the 3rd and 4th defendants were appointed directors in 1954 and 2005 respectively.

They added that the claimants’ statement of claim contained tissues of lies and distorted facts alleging that Bianca who instituted the suit, “being greedy felt that she could hold unto the company’s properties.”
