Reports reached us today that University of Jos lecturers
are planning to go on an internal strike over certain issues between them, and
the school management
This is coming barely two weeks after the Federal Government
and Asuu ended the strike that lasted for 6 months, which had paralyzed academic
activities in Nigerian Universities Nationwide
We at YOB got the information and we were able to reach the
SUG President Comr. Ajik Magaji Izang, he said:
That yes the lecturers and management have issues relating
to ‘earned allowance’ ,and that management have refused to pay lecturers the
earned allowances as they were supposed to, and this has formed the crux of their internal
strike.
At the time of filing this, a meeting as already been called
for Monday 6th January 2014 between the SUG and various stake
holders and departments heads.
One then wonders whether students should resume, the
president said students should not be discouraged as they should resume while
the pending issues will be resolved as soon as possible, he also said students
should not keep quiet while lecturers are toiling with their future.
One of the students Comr. Kenny Ilori also said that enough is
enough and students should not sit back and allow lecturers destroy their
future
