FUTO lecturers Gone

It all seems like a joke but FUTO lecturers have been sacked

According to him, the senate of the university had declared all the positions of academic staff in the institution, adding that they would be advertised starting from Monday, December 2.

The senate council, he explained, had already compiled the list of vacant positions in the school, adding that who were willing to resume would be adequately protected.
Meanwhile, the FUTO branch of ASUU has said any attempt to break their ranks would be strongly resisted by their members.

This was contained in a communiqué issued at the end o their meeting held on Monday, and signed by both the chairman and secretary, Dr Ikenna Nwachukwu and Dr F.M. Eke respectively.

The communiqué urged members to ignore the resumption notice by FUTO management, adding that the branch would not engage in any academic activities until the Federal Government committed itself to implementing the ASUU-FGN agreement.

The next question is which school is next

Unijos to Resume Tommorow

The University of Jos   has directed and Mandated  lecturers of the institution to resume work immediately.

In  a statement,  the Registrar of the school, Jilli Dandam,    said  that the order  to resume work immediately was in compliance with the Federal  Government’s  directive.

The statement read:   "Following the federal government's order on resumption of academic activities in all federal institutions, the Pro Chancellor and Chairman of Council on behalf of the governing council has directed  all academic staff of the university of Jos  to  return to their various departments and units, and commence work immediately”.

It is expected that academic activities should start as early as tommorow, all this is in a bid to beat the deadline of the government

He has however advised lecturers who love their jobs to resume work immediately, or risk loosing their jobs

We however wait comments from the Branch Asuu Chairman, who has been a front burner of the ongoing strike, it is however unclear how Asuu Unijos branch will react to this

We will keep you informed!

Just In- Asuu Vow to continue saying they can never be 'Cowed'

ASUU Vows to Go On with the Strike

The Members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) have vowed to continue with the ongoing strike until the Federal Government meets all of its demands.
In a press briefing which started in Abuja in the afternoon of December 2, 2013, the President of ASUU, Nasir Fagge, declared the union “shall never be cowed.”
“We shall bow only to what we as academics are convinced will serve the interest of Nigeria and its people, no matter their ethnic, religious or class origins. This is where we stand. We shall never be cowed,” the leader of ASUU said.

Keep Your Children at Home--Asuu

The Academic Staff Union of Universities has cautioned Parents to keep their ward at home for their safety and not bring them to the school

The Chairman of ASUU, University of Ibadan chapter, Dr. Segun Ajiboye said that parents should disregard the order as no Academic activity will go on in the school despite the Federal Government Threat

Ajiboye said, “Don’t risk the lives of your children and wards. Keep them  at home because ASUU will not teach. Soldiers and the police deployed by the Federal Government  will not teach.   Wike can come and teach in the universities. It is a huge joke to sack lecturers. Our strike must not be in vain. Our students must see the results.

“It is funny. We thought we are in a democracy. I assure Nigerians that we know what the law says about the strike. Our job is statue backed. We are not threatened. “We do not trust the government. The record of the government is clear. This government is dishonouring agreements. Our members are resolved to pursue this to a logical conclusion.”

He said, “Dear members, stay calm and remain resolute. There is nothing wrong in asking government to do what it says it will do immediately. ASUU is not making any new demands as the supervising minister is propagating. Government is only repeating a ‘one act play’ scripted by the IBB dictatorship in early 90s. It didn’t work then, and, it won’t work now. All branches are intact. We cannot be intimidated.

“If ASUU could withstand Babangida, this government cannot  threaten us. We have worked this road before, the only thing that will work is peaceful resolution. It is sad that government wants to sack us because we are asking for the resolutions. We are ready to be sacked but government should learn from the University of Ilorin experience. We are going to stay the course.”

TMZ reported earlier today that the county coroner revealed that the bodies of Paul and his friend Roger Rodas, 38, who was also his financial adviser, were so badly burned that they are currently unidentifiable.

The L.A. County Coroner has requested dental records for both victims before they can identify the bodies. Autopsies on both bodies have been delayed until later this week.
